C h i m e r a (2010) is a series of stereoscopic cards with the faces of two different people aligned next to each other. When viewed through the stereoscope, these two faces create a three-dimensional singular image of one person. This image attempts to simulate the phenomena a viewer experiences when looking through the stereoscope two dimensionally. When observed three dimensionally, an uncanny feeling is produced, as the logic of one’s mind is suspended; understanding that there are clearly two different faces, however, when peering through this device the observer views a third, hybrid person.
